Tell us a little bit about yourself:imy and me rhode island

A little about me? How can you sum up someone as complicated and scattered as I in a few sentences?

Well I am a mother to two beautiful girls. Imogen (Imy) and Illiana (Ily). I have had the names of the two girls since 2000. I think its rather adorable to have their nicknames mean “I miss you” and “I love you.” I am engaged to an amazing man who is OCD about messes but deals with my creative scatter with grace and patience. I am a friend to almost everyone who needs one, even thy oldest enemy. I am forgiving, loving, honest, loyal and trustworthy. I help anyone I can with however I can. I’m always the first call for 70% of the RLP in my life and about 5% for the online community. I am 33 turning 34 on April 11th. I adore Eeyore, The Labyrinth, David Bowie, No Doubt, Paramore, I have a fascination for diy’s (really an obsession) and I love to talk to people to know their life story. I can go on and on…. trust me! I’ll tell you more on the next app.

IMG_2188When did you open your business and what inspired you to start it?

Imy & Me started back in April of 2011. It’s only been 6 years?! I started Imy & Me as a way to see beauty in the world and share that with the world (at the time, family and friends). I wanted to create something that would give me peace and a sense of completion when an item was finished. When making the item (and the process is still the same today) I would think about one person in my life that had positively affected me in some way. I would think about their strength or their compassion and I would feel better about myself knowing I had such an amazing person in my life. I started out creating hairpins, which quickly moved into bracelets, that transformed into making necklaces and earrings. While today I have relaunched with a different idea than from where I started, I am mostly creating Cabochon and Druzy jewelry. I feel that it gives me more of an artistic release today not that I’ve grown personally I wanted to reflect that growth to the world.

Being a woman with now two girls, I wanted to create things for Women to wear every day. I want jewelry to be something everyone can afford. My new line that launched this past Fall (2015) is just that! Something of quality that is priced for every woman to have.

The customers! I love getting to see their pictures or emails when they receive their new items.I rather enjoy writing those little notes that are included in their purchase. It makes it more personable, you know.

What goals do you have for your business over princess filigree black and white gunmetal adjustable ringthe next year?

I want to be able to have the ability to remain a stay at home business owner. I adore spending time with my girls and being able to support them equally with my Fiance (Chris). I want to get a personal artist on board with Imy and Me so we can offer exclusive content for the customers. That would be amazing!

-First, congratulations on your decision to start a new business!
-Second, brace yourself for a world of emotions. If no one buys, views or even shares your posts it’s not you or your product. Don’t take it personal.
-Get as much feedback from friends and family who WILL tell you the truth!! No sugar coating.
-Find a community of people you can also work with that are just as amazing as you are! You can find some great groups on facebook these days.
-Find linkups! They might drive new views and possibly sales to your shop!!
-Stock up on aspirin! While you’re at it set up a massage appointment! De-stress whenever you can!
