Welcome to our first Small Biz Spotlight!
Each month we will feature one amazing business to help us all meet new people, build relationships, and support each other in the small business community! This first business is one that I LOVE and look up to. She has truly been an inspiration! So, without further ado, I introduce to you…
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi! I am Kelly, Christian wife and mother of two, who suffers from amnesia and crafts to help my memory remember. I am so addicted to socks that they tell me what animal they wish to be. My shop is fill with ecofriendly, hand sewn plush sock animal toys and hand created home decor items (hand embroidered or crochet).
When did you open your business and what inspired you to start it?
It opened November 5, 2012 because I dreamed to stay home with my children. Kiser Krafts helps put food on the table, making it possible for me to stay home to care for them. And the underlying need to craft for my memory. I was/am going to create no matter what, I might as well make it work to help feed my family.
Tell us a little bit about your business.
Kiser Krafts is a shop full of ecofriendly, one of a kind creations. I rescue and reuse as many
supplies/materials as I can making the footprint on our beautiful a small one. Each sock animal is hand sewn and designed by me, every embroidered hoop is hand stitched by me, and each cloth doll is machine sewn and care is given to all the details.
What do you enjoy most about running your business?
I get the privilege to stay home with my children. It is my greatest blessing.
What goals do you have for your business over the next year?
To meet my 50 sale goal through Storenvy…all my other goals I had set in January have been met. 🙂
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting a new business/shop?
Running an online business takes time and effort. Do not, DO NOT, compare your shop to others. Your journey is different than theirs…they may be at the middle or end of their journey, while you are only at the beginning.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Remember, you are not alone on your journey. Get connected with others. Find a community on Facebook, G+, Twitter, or a blog-style community. Connect, ask questions, and be open mind to grow.
