Thursday Thoughts- Lots of new things!
So, today I wanted to take a few minutes to write this because there have been lots of things happening!
This past week has been a little hectic in an unexpected way. I had a bad allergic reaction to who knows what and it has seriously affected being able to get stuff done! My hands have been swollen, itchy, and in pain because of hives. It has been something that has come and gone throughout the week. But with the right meds now, I am on the mend! Yesterday was the best day I’ve had in over a week and I was able to accomplish a whole lot. I made 2 lambs and a bunny yesterday! 😀 So, I’m optimistic that I should be back to normal production on orders! 🙂 But, just know that if for some reason your order is taking a little longer than normal, you are always welcome to reach out and find out what’s going on! And I do try to keep you informed as well!
A little over a month ago, I finally decided it was time to invest in a planner. You all have been amazing and keeping me so busy! And with all of my personal life things and business stuff, I started to get overwhelmed! So, I’ve found that using a planner has been a HUGE help in me staying organized and getting stuff done!
Of course, with getting the planner comes the joy of actually planning. Which, in itself has become a huge addiction! I have found a few shops that I just LOVE and want all the things from!
Pelhuaz has been one of my go to shops for stickers already. I’ve been using stuff from her since I started! In fact, my friend Kelly of Kiser Krafts Handmade and I wrote a Handmade Monday review on her items, so if you haven’t seen it yet, read it here!
QtsyLife has been another shop I’ve grabbed some amazing stickers from! I haven’t had a chance to use a whole set of hers yet in a week, but I will be for next week. But I’m loving the sets I purchased already!
The other one I’m obsessed with is Pretty Cute Planner. Her sets are the cutest! This week my planner is filled with the Cacti set I bought from her! It is so amazing! And truthfully it is better in person than it is in the picture! I took this picture before actually planning out my week, so a lot has been added since too.
I actually have made a bunch of my own stickers too. Stickers for my linkup, auctions I participate in, Social Media stickers, weekly goals stickers, and more. As I find I need stuff and either don’t find something I like or know it’s something unique to my individual needs, I create it. And I LOVE creating them! The only downside to me creating the stickers is that it doesn’t fit the overall feel/theme of my shop. So, I will be keeping them just for myself for now.
So, why am I sharing this new planner addiction with you? Well, my friend Zei from Pelhuaz gave me the idea to make some crochet planner clips! And of course, I took it and ran with it! So, I am now offering Planner clips in my shop! They are currently located under “Odds ‘n Ends” because I only have 4 styles available. BUT, I am planning a whole line of them, so it will soon have it’s own category! These are the ones I currently have up in the shop. The plan is to create and release a few new ones every week for the next few weeks. If you are a planner addict and are looking for something specific in the meantime, feel free to message me on FB or email me with your special request! I’m always open to custom orders! Most of our clips will range from $2-$5 each based on size and complexity. And I’ll be offering many of them in sets as well.
Are you a planner addict? What kinds of clips would you like to see next? Feel free to leave me a comment below!
To help celebrate the release of these clips, take 20% off your planner clip purchases from now through April1!
Planner clips aren’t the only new things that are showing up in our shop, however. The past few months have been filled with custom orders! And each of those orders have had great things to be added into the shop as a result! We’ve had lots of new amigurumis! So, make sure you head over to check out what’s new in the shop!
Octopus for a Preemie Project
If you receive our newsletters, you’ve already seen that I have started to take part in a very special project.
You may have seen/heard mentioned of Octopus for a Preemie online. It was something that started in Europe and has quickly spread around the world. And it’s now here in the US.
Octopus for a Preemie is a project that crocheters, like myself, make and donate these octopi which go to babies in the NICU. They have been shown to help a lot with these little guys and keeps them from pulling on their cords. The tentacles remind them of the umbilical cord, so have proven to be a huge comfort.
I have joined the FB Group to become involved in this project. I have sat back, watched, and waited as more info has continued to come available. Now that things are underway and hospitals are beginning to request these octos, I am beginning to take part. I have bought some approved yarn and the stuffing I already use is approved for this project as well.
I completed my first octopus (shown in the pictures here) recently, and before washing it fits all of the required standards. But with the first one, I need to wash it to make sure it maintains those standards after. So, as I type this, my first octo is getting his Spa treatment- a hot wash and dry. So, we’ll see what happens!
My initial thought was to make and send 4 of these guys per month. But after doing the first one, and how tight the stitches must be, I don’t know if 4 will be attainable. So, for now I’m going to shoot for 2 per month and as I get better at making them, I’ll increase it from there. These octos are not something I can or will sell. They are only for the NICU. If you want octopi for other purposes, I am happy to make other more appropriate types for my shop. If you are a crocheter and want to get involved, you can join the FB group to find out the details. Or if you have a preemie in the NICU and want to request one of these guys for your little one, you can also find more info in the FB group.
I do plan to keep you all up to date with how I am coming along with helping with this project. I anxiously await seeing if my first octo will be approved!
What are your thoughts on this project? Are you involved in any great projects?
I think that’s all I have for now! Hope you have a great day!
